Community & what's on?
Cirencester is often referred to as the 'Capital of the Cotswolds' with the Parish Church of St John Baptist dominating the Market Place. With three churches in the parish there is much to keep everyone busy.
The Parish Church is a popular venue for concerts and with its recent renovation and refurbished Father Wilis Organ, it is highly sought after.
Those who attend the churches often volunteer to help with the many aspects of parish life. This can include pastoral visiting, acting as a Street Pastor in the Town Centre at night, making cakes for the Corner Stone, helping to run the Bookshop, volunteering to help keep our churches clean, lead the young people's groups, help with the creches, act in sketches for our social events, play a musical instrument in the Holy Trinity music group, join the bell ringers, join the acolyte team and much more.
The parish runs an excellent series of courses on various subjects connected to Christianity. School of Faith details are available in the churches as a booklet to take away.
The Parochial Church Council, or PCC as it is usually known, is a body of elected members of the congregations who meet regularky throughout the year to manage the life of our parish. Minutes of their meetings are available for all to see. Once a year all the parish's activities are brought together in the Annual Report.
Every month our magazine, 'Parish Life', is published and circulated to members of the congregations and anyone else in the town who is interested in the articles about Christianity, the World, comments on topical issies and so on.
The admin team at the Parish Office will be very pleased to put you in touch with the organisers of all the various activities and groups. They also have details of all the latest news. Either call in at the Parish Office or ring 01285 659317
