Celebrating 50 years!
Eric Sutcliffe was formerly at Abbeydale St John’s Church, Sheffield, when it was in the Derby Diocese and was admitted by Bishop Tom Parfitt at St Giles Church, Matlock on the 28th October 1963. He worked with Revd. Ted Sketchley at Abbeydale. Then he and his wife, Pat, moved over the border to live in Matlock in 1970 where they worshipped and served mainly at S.Darley Church. Eric was by this time lecturing in Matlock College, now part of the University of Derbyshire.
Then 27 years ago they moved down to the Cotswolds and Eric was invited by Rev Hedley Ringrose to be a Reader in Cirencester Parish and to be licenced to the Gloucester Diocese. He has been active there since then. Throughout the years he has been greatly supported by Pat, both during the days of bringing up a family of three children and later during retirement.
Eric writes: 'It has been a great privilege to serve with many different vicars over the years and now with Canon Revd. Leonard Doolan. We celebrate the anniversary on 27th Oct. at our Parish Church.I have many happy memories of those early days, and of course many more since! Please remember me in your prayers.'
